Studio Forge is an architecture and interior design studio. Our work often encompasses full design services for all elements rather than a dated approach of separate disciplines, however we also partner with wider teams of architects and interior designers for various projects, if required. We like to unite architecture, interiors, furniture and landscape in a singular curated vision of functionality and beauty for our clients' lifestyles.
Our vision is one of a coherent whole, capturing the soul of each individual project with sensitivity to it's context and place. The work is marked by a rigorously calm and restrained approach and a connection to elemental materials. Cal Robertson co-founded the practice and leads every project directly with our clients - a wide ranging background has given him a unique mixture of creative flair, aesthetic sensitivity and technical ability. We turn our hand to any project that values creative direction, and problem solving with our particular eye for balancing tradition and modernity. We have worked in residential, landscape, public, cultural and workplace projects across the years.

We seek to craft and curate stillness, in touch with a primal human connection to nature, balancing light, material, proportion and rituals. Projects may vary from warmly minimal and contemporary to pared-back classical, and manifest at different scales, but the approach is always the same; searching for visual quietude.
The work tends to be in home extensions, building refurbishments, adaptive re-use, and remodelling of both contemporary and heritage properties at all scales, as we are passionate about breathing new life into existing buildings and reducing the carbon-footprint that comes with new-build. Many of our projects are in tricky planning scenarios, such as listed properties, conservation areas and AONBs. Based in a studio in rural South Oxfordshire, the practice takes on projects ranging in build cost from £250,000 for smaller works, through to significantly larger projects. A tight-knit team of three cover most of our projects, with additional resource on hand when we require it. We choose to be discreet about past and current projects, often at client request. New clients are welcome to visit us in person at the studio to look through our portfolio while we discuss your requirements.
We carry substantial professional indemnity and public liability insurances in line with codes of conduct in the UK, and have also worked and consulted on projects in Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Norway and Southern France - we follow our work to where we suit the client and project best.
